Each March, Disability Awareness Month is celebrated throughout Indiana. Given that adults and children with disabilities represent slightly more than 19% of Indiana’s population, disability awareness is important to all of us. Led by the Indiana Governer’s Council for People with Disabilities, the goal of Disability Awareness Month is to increase awareness and promote independence, integration and inclusion of all people with disabilities.
This year’s campaign theme is “Community Dreams” and Hillcroft has several activities planned for the month.
On March 7th, Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler will proclaim March as Disability Awareness Month on behalf of Hillcroft Services. The event will be held at the Mutual Bank on Charles Street in Downtown Muncie at 4:00PM. A reception will follow until 5:00PM. During the month of March the Jeanette Taylor Gallery will be at Mutual Bank. All of the art displayed in the gallery has been created by Hillcroft’s ABA Clinic and Creativity Unlimited Program and most of the pieces will be for sale.
We welcome everyone to come attend this wonderful event!
